This is a FS2002 update, repaint and a panel for Felix Rodriguez's Stits Playboy. I have been enjoying this great little
plane for a while. And decided to repaint it and make a panel after coming across a photo of NX41K. Felix did a great job on it and I take no credit just hope one day I can do as well. The White and Blue NX41K is the new repaint of a real world plane. I also upengined It with what would be a Cessna 152 110hp engine. It has Aaron Swindle"s super cub sounds and uses all stock FS2002 gauges

STITS SA3A PLAYBOY
for Microsoft's Flight Simulator 2000.

FSDS Model by: Felix Rodriguez
Flight Dynamics by: Bob Boudin

When the FAA relaxed the rules that had placed severe restrictions on homebuilt aircraft building, Ray Stits was among the first to take up the banner in the fifties. In fourteen years, Ray turned out fourteen designs, inlcuding the SA3 "Playboy" which was designed, built, covered and flown in only four months.

"Ray's little Playboy is definitely a compact hip hugger that exhibits good performance, even with a mere 65-horsepower engine since at that power it will happily trundle along at a 100mph cruise airspeed. Even so, due to the machine's built-in strength reserves it is quite capable of accepting the heavier 150 hp engines that some builders have hung on the design. In a subtle piece of advertising, Ray painted his name up side down on the fuselage as a reminder that the aircraft is capable of aerobatics." (Jim Newman, writing in "Flying Models" magazine , August 2001, p.50 - an excellent column "A View from Here..")

This model for Flight Simulator was created using Flight Simulator Design Studio Pro (FSDS Pro), from Abacus Publications (http://www.abacuspub.com), using the scale plans (original by Frank W beatty, Nov. 1995) from the August 2001 issue of Flying Models magazine.

The Bob Boudin flight dynamics file is based on the default Extra 300S, toned down, of course, to better simulate a small 85 hp engine. Does it fly like the real one? I hope so. The model does have some "modern" features, so it's not a 100% simulation. But, if you want a sporty runabout, by all means, have fun.

Bare minimum specs:
Maximum Speed 135 mph
Cruise Speed 120 mph
Seating 1
Wingspan 22'- 2"
Engine Continental 85 hp

Acknowledgments (not in any order of "importance")

To Bob Boudin (a.k.a. "biguglyguy") for preparing the flight dynamics file.

To JIM NEWMAN - writer of the monthly column "A View from here" in "Flying Models Magazine". (http://www.flying-models.com). This column is a treasure trove for the non-traditionalist aircraft enthuthisast. I have yet to be disappointed in his choice of subjects, especially since the article includes a scale plan of the subject.

To my associates at Freeflight Design Shop (http://www.freeflightdesign.com) and Pegasus Aviation Design (http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/pegav/) for the support and tolerance of my "peculiarities".

.. and to the readers and flightsimmers posting in the Design Forums I hang out.
